Newcastle region libraries are fantastic places for all ages and interests to enjoy and we want to make sure as many people as possible can access our branches.
Over the last year we have been keeping an eye on when people are visiting our branches and we have found some branches need to be open for a bit longer and others don't need to be open at all.
From 4 January 2016 we are changing our operating hours on Saturday mornings to better meet demand from our users.
Six branch libraries on Saturday mornings will be open for an extra hour from 1pm instead of 12noon. These branches are Adamstown, Beresfield, Hamilton, Mayfield, New Lambton, Stockton.
The review highlighted low usage at Lambton Library on Saturdays therefore the branch will now be closed on Saturday mornings. This will allow us to better utilise staff resources at busier branches.
The changes mean that across the city our libraries will open for an additional 3.5 hours.
Newcastle region libraries will shut down for the Christmas break from 12noon on Thursday 24 December until Monday 4 January 2016. City Library will be open on Wednesday 30 and Thursday 31 December from 9.30am to 5pm
