Project Scope

Our project scope is to prepare a master plan to revitalise James Street Plaza Hamilton. Improving James Street Plaza is a placemaking project supporting our commitment to developing vibrant, safe and active public places under the Newcastle 2030 Community Strategic Plan.

The scope of the project is shown in the  Process Flow Chart for James Street Plaza (pdf).

To ensure we develop a plan that meets the needs of the community and benefits all stakeholders, we have conducted a series of engagement activities to capture ideas and opinions as follows:
  • PlaceScore were engaged to conduct a Personal Experience (PX) survey via 50 face-to-face surveys in late May 2019.
  • The community's ideas for the plaza were collected in June 2019 via an online survey and ideas post cards.
  • On Thursday, 6 June 2019 we held two community ideas drop-in sessions at James Street Plaza.
  • On Saturday, 27 July 2019 we held a community workshop/focus group to look at the results of the community engagement and agree on the design direction for the Plaza.
These engagement activities have helped inform:
