Memorial Walk maintenance partial closure

Council is undertaking maintenance to Memorial Walk where two spans of the bridge alongside a gap in the cliff have been producing acoustic issues under particular prevailing weather conditions since its construction in 2014.

The work will involve replacing a section of the existing grid mesh panels with a solid top panel which will potentially remediate the long standing challenge.

The work is expected to take up to three weeks, commencing on Monday 12 March.

Impacts on the public

  • A section of the walk will be closed to foot traffic on the days the works are carried out (7am - 5pm) to address the risk to the public and allow the contractors to safely carry out the work
  • The closure will prevent the public completing the walk in its entirety, however each end can still be accessed
  • The walkway will be open to the public outside of the work hours/days (7am - 5pm, Monday – Friday)
  • A small compound will be established in the Strezlecki Look Out Car Park.
