Council has allocated $40 million for major asset preservation works including $14 million for resurfacing works and road, footpath and furniture rehabilitation.

There is also funding for replacement of street signs, line marking, ordinance fencing and street furniture.

Road surface preservation works include crack sealing, asphalt patching, resealing and surface rejuvenation treatments. If you would like more information about Council's re-sealing program and why we do it please visit the Re-sealing Your Road page.

Road resealing works are planned for Adamstown, Merewether, New Lambton Heights, North Lambton and Stockton.

Road surface rejuvenation works are planned for Beresfield, Fletcher, Maryland, Maryville, Merewether, Merewether Heights, Minmi, New Lambton, North Lambton, Rankin Park, Shortland, Stockton, Tarro and Wallsend.

Additional funding for local roads provided by the Federal Government through the Roads to Recovery Program.

The Federal Government has provided funding under The Roads to Recovery stream for local road works with projects this year; completion of projects at Bibby Street Hamilton, Minmi Road Wallsend and King Street Newcastle access road, new projects are Gothic Street Jesmond - road rehabilitation, Patrick Street Merewether - road rehabilitation and John T Bell Drive Maryland road rehabilitation.
