VIP Sensory Area for People with Disabilities

At Newcastle City Council, we are working hard to make our events more accessible for everyone in our community. We understand that for some people, getting to and around events can be a challenge. So this NYE we are trying something new.

We are working with local artist Bliss Cavanagh to create a safe and magical sensory experience for people with disabilities and their families to enjoy. We've called it our VIP Sensory Area as we think everyone we are inviting are Very Important People!

The area will provide a base for people to come and go from to enjoy the whole event, or a safe area to relax in and enjoy the sensory wonderland of artistic creations. Situated nice and close to the harbour, you will be able to sit back and watch the 9pm fireworks in comfort.

We are asking people with to register for the area so we can manage numbers and ensure we tailor the space just for them. Only registered participants will be able to have access on the night.

Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity as spaces are limited!

There are two types of registration options for the VIP Sensory Area:

  1. Register now for a Cocoon Pod
  2. Register now for the Sensory Lounge

Registrations close by Monday 18 December 2017.

For more information about our VIP Sensory Area contact Bliss Cavanagh on 0415 701188 or bliss@studiobliss.com

  • Entry to the entire VIP Sensory Area to wander and enjoy
  • Use of the Sensory Lounge, a shared area that includes a variety of tables and seating for you and your family to sit and relax, and enjoy some of the delicious eats available for purchase at the nearby Food Alley.
