The Local History Library holds a large collection of historical maps and plans. The collection includes parish maps, subdivision and real estate plans, and architectural plans and drawings. The architectural plans contained in the Pitt and Merewether Archive, and the subdivision plans of surveyor Alfred Francis Hall are just some of the collections held by the Library.Search our catalogue

The Library is also partnering with City of Newcastle to launch an interactive map showing the location of our city's street art. Public art is an important part of Newcastle's changing landscape. It tells our stories and brings life to the streets. There are many hidden works tucked away in secret spots across Newcastle. You can help capture these diverse works and create a record to celebrate the creativity of this city. Find out more at Pin the city's art.
