Community Consultation

Newcastle City Council is committed to keeping the community informed as the investigation progresses. Council will use a range of communication channels to provide updates on the investigation, including direct engagement, emails, information updates, flyers and further community information sessions.

Council will update the community when the Detailed Site Investigation Report is finalised in late-2017. Council will continue engaging residents within the Investigation Area directly about the investigation outcomes and next steps.


Council provided an update to residents on the progress of the investigation during October 2017. The sampling results for individual properties were discussed along wtih the steps in the project. 

Project updates

Council held community information sessions for local residents on 15 and 18 August 2016 at the Ethnic Communities Council Hall in Waratah. The sessions provided community members with information about the historical Waratah Gasworks site, and plans for the initial and future investigations.
