Wondering what to do with your unwanted cleaning products, garden chemicals, paints, gas bottles, batteries or motor oils?  You could try the following options:

  1. The Summerhill Community Recycling Centre is a permanent drop-off centre, open year-round, for the most common household problem wastes: paint, motor and other oils, household and car batteries, flouro light globes and tubes, fire extinguishers and smoke detectors.
  2. Household Chemical CleanOut events are held at various locations, including Newcastle, on specified dates throughout the year, to help you safely dispose of a wide range of household chemical products, such as household cleaners, car chemicals and garden pesticides. They accept additional problem wastes that are too complex or dangerous to be processed through the Summerhill Community Recycling Centre.
  3. Community Recycling Stations are located at several facilities for the disposal of smaller quantities of the less-toxic problem wastes accepted at the Summerhill Community Recycling Centre and Chemical CleanOut events (such as household batteries), plus some additional waste items that cannot be recycled in household kerbside bins (such as reading glasses and mobile phones).
