Incorporating a place making approach

The role of “place making” in the Hunter St Revitalisation Master Plan process is to identify and deliver a number of micro street scale place based initiatives to support the unique mix of social, environmental, economic and cultural elements evident along Hunter St.

Place making principles include:

  • Creating a space that has a distinct character or spirit of place.
  • Ensuring spaces reflect community values, needs and aspirations
  • Making spaces feel safe
  • Involving local people and stakeholders in the place making process
  • Making spaces work for people
