In the January school holidays the Newcastle Permanent Junior Rangers program will evolve into a free Junior Ranger Fun Day. There will be fun activities for the kids, educational critter show, and a bbq lunch.

Fort Scratchley Historic Site
Fort Scratchley Historic Site is great place to take the family during the holidays for either a self-guided tour or a guided tour through the tunnels. The Fort is open six days a week, 10am to 4pm (closed Tuesdays).
General admission to Fort Scratchley is free, visitors can take a self-guided tour around the barracks and above ground defence structures. A self-guided tour brochure is available from the Artillery Store to assist visitors with navigating the site and learning interesting historical facts.
