The Newcastle Permanent Junior Ranger Fun Day is on again! As September is biodiversity month, activities will promote the importance of protecting, conserving and improving biodiversity within Australia. Kids get a free sausage sandwich too (adults $1 each).

Newcastle Art Gallery

Fort Scratchley open day
Visit Fort Scratchley historic site on Monday 6 October and learn about its rich military history, incredible network of underground tunnels and the ever expanding museum collection. The whole family can discover how this site helped shape our City.

Night OWLS opening night
Night OWLS is an initiative of The City of Newcastle and Newcastle Youth Council that aims to foster creativity and engage young people in delivery of community safety outcomes. Fly into Newcastle Museum from 23 September to 3 November 2014 to view creative lighting solutions for Newcastle’s city centre. The Night OWLS opening night is at Newcastle Museum on 25 September 2014 from 5.30pm – 7pm. More information.
Make a splash!
Take a dip at your local pool or beach these school holidays. Lambton Swimming Centre opened for the season on 16 August and Mayfield, Wallsend, Stockton and Beresfield pools open on Saturday 20 September 2014. Lifeguard patrols commence at Newcastle, Stockton, Dixon Park and Merewether Beaches on 20 September 2014. Newcastle Ocean Baths, Nobbys Beach and Bar Beach are patrolled all year round.
