Heritage grants
Owners of heritage listed properties can take advantage of grants provided by government for heritage conservation - including building repairs and restoration projects such as reinstating verandahs or painting buildings in traditional colours. Financial assistance may be provided as $ for $ grants, rate rebates or low interest loans. Check the categories below to see if you are eligible.
State Heritage Funding
Over 2011-2013, the NSW Government has committed $5.458 million funding to the 2011-13 NSW Heritage Grants program and a further $2 million for the Hunter Region Heritage Grants program. The NSW Heritage Grants aims to improve the physical condition of NSW heritage items, assist communities to care for their heritage and supports local government in its role as manager of the majority of heritage items in NSW.

Commonwealth Heritage Funding
The Australian Government Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts
, offers a varierty of heritage related grants.
These grants are targetted towards nationally significant heritage places.
The City of Newcastle Heritage Grant Scheme
Council is not offering a Heritage Grant scheme this year (2012).
