Heritage register

The Newcastle Heritage Register is a database of all heritage items and heritage conservation areas in Newcastle

The Register is useful if you wish to know why a property or suburb is heritage listed. It includes information on heritage significance, historical background, and images. All heritage items and heritage conservation areas are included.

If you are preparing a Heritage Impact Statement or development proposal you can download a hard copy of the datasheet and attach it to your documentation.

How to search

When you click on the link, the database will open in the Heritage Branch website. You retrieve the Newcastle listings by following these instructions:

  • In the field "Local Government Area" select Newcastle
  • In the field "Listings" select Local Environmental Plan
  • Then press search

NOTE - By following these instructions, all of the Newcastle items will be displayed, but for ease of use we suggest you sort the results by suburb. To do this, hover your cursor over the word "suburb" and left click. The results list will then be listed alphabetically and you can easily locate your heritage item or heritage conservation area by scrolling down to the suburb you need.
