The Newcastle CBD Evacuation Plan
The Newcastle CBD Evacuation plan is an annexure of the Newcastle Local Disaster Plan (DISPLAN).
The Newcastle Local Disaster Plan (DISPLAN) details arrangements that prevent or mitigate, prepare for or respond to, and recover from emergencies within the Newcastle Local Government Area.
Newcastle Local Disaster Plan (DISPLAN) (1.8Mb)
The Evacuation Plan is an initiative of the Hunter Central Coast District and Newcastle Local Emergency Management Committees resulting from a directive from the Department of Premier and Cabinet, Executive Officers Co-ordinating Group on Counter Terrorism.
The Evacuation Plan was developed by a subcommittee of the Newcastle LEMC that also included representatives from the State Transit Authority, Ministry of Transport, RTA and RailCorp.
The aim of the Plan is to detail special control and coordination arrangements for an emergency should it arise in the Newcastle CBD area, which may involve evacuation of all or part of the CBD.
Community education
One of the key features of the Newcastle CBD Evacuation Plan is the development of community education strategies. Newcastle City Council is responsible for the delivery and implementation of the community education strategies.
