Newcastle in 90 seconds

24 May 2013

Do you think you can capture everything that makes Newcastle Newcastle, in a 90 second short film?

Then grab you camera and start filming.

City Evolutions, a project aimed at activating Watt Street and the surrounding area after dark launches in June and The City of Newcastle’s Tourism and Economic Development Manager JAN ROSS says there is an opportunity for film enthusiasts to take their work from the computer screen to a screen the size of a billboard as part of the project.

“City Evolutions is all about Newcastle; our people; our buildings and our heritage. We have plenty of historical images and written stories attached to the project but the film competition will add that extra dimension.”

“The theme for the competition is ‘the evolution of Newcastle’. This theme can be interpreted in so many different directions and we are expecting films from how the city has changed over time and historic places to childhood memories or events that shaped the city.”

“There are not many opportunities for budding film makers to showcase their work on such a large medium and the most captivating and creative short film will be projected onto the façade of one of the buildings in the Newcastle city centre for the street party launch of City Evolutions on Friday 21 June.”

How can you enter?

Simply upload your short film to YouTube or Vimeo and email the URL to City Evolutions and you’re in the running.
