Volunteering
The City of Newcastle has benefited from the generous giving of time and energy by a diverse range of volunteers.
The Greening Centre and Blackbutt Reserve in particular have a large number of volunteers.
Other sites which have developed a volunteer base include Fort Scratchley, the Art Gallery, Civic Theatre, the Playhouse and the Museum.
A Volunteer Protocol was developed in July 2002 outlining the partnership between Council and its volunteers. This is currently being reviewed and it is anticipated that the updated version will be available for our celebrations during National Volunteers Week in May 2011.
A detailed program of activities celebrating National Volunteers Week is being developed. It will be available early in 2011.
