In 2011 The City of Newcastle held community consultation meetings in each ward. The meetings provided opportunities for local residents talk about the opportunities and challenges facing their ward.

The community meetings, previously known as Ward Forums, have been renamed to 'Conversation with Council'. It is hoped with this new outlook to get more people interesting in coming along and having their views heard in an open discussion forum.
Ward 1 Forum 2011
Ward 1 includes Bar Beach, Carrington, Cooks Hill, Islington, Maryville, Mayfield, Mayfield East, Mayfield West, Newcastle, Newcastle East, Newcastle West, Stockton, The Hill, The Junction (part), Tighes Hill, Warabrook, Wickham.
