Cleaner production

In the Newcastle and Hunter region the commercial sector has been identified as the largest contributor of greenhouse gas. In Newcastle the sector is responsible for 57% of the city’s greenhouse pollution.

Cleaner Production is an overall approach to business management which targets the reduction of energy, water and material resources and the minimisation of waste and pollution.

Through the use of Cleaner Production methods companies can:

  • Improve operational efficiency
  • Reduce greenhouse gas emissions by lowering energy consumption
  • Generate sustained financial savings.
