For Councils
ClimateCam for Councils is a program of knowledge transference from the experiences of The City of Newcastle's major review and retrofit of its ten largest public facilities to reduce energy and water use.
Council has achieved a 39% ($400,000pa) reduction in energy consumption compared to 1995 levels, despite the addition of facilities such as the Fred Ash office building and the Wallsend Library, together with the provision of heating for the Lambton Pool.
ClimateCam for Councils provides practical information and strategies to show local councils how to save money, help the environment and engage the community by reducing energy and water consumption and resultant greenhouse gas emissions.
We have worked with over 190 local governments
Since 1998, The City of Newcastle has worked with over 190 local governments throughout Australia and New Zealand and continues to offer:
In-business mentoring using the 14-step Financial Loss Control process
Tailored one or two day workshops
Tailored presentations and field trips.
The training programs have been organised in response to requests from local governments across Australia on how Council has achieved its resource efficiency outcomes and implemented its successful ECO*STAR program, which has involved the systematic retrofit of Newcastle's community facilities with energy and water saving hardware.
The programs guide participants through Council's proven 14-step Financial Loss Control framework and are supported by a series of case studies on Council's energy and water improvement projects, biodiesel fleet, green purchasing system and the ClimateCam suite of programs for schools, businesses and households.
An example of a previous training program can be viewed by downloading the ClimateCam for Councils 2010 brochure.
