Our vision
The City of Newcastle is committed to reducing our carbon emissions and water use and to sharing our knowledge and experiences to inform, inspire and empower our community to adopt sustainable lifestyles, practices and technologies.
Council has long held a vision to position Newcastle as a test laboratory and global showcase for innovative carbon and water management solutions.
This commitment and vision forms the basis of The Newcastle 2020 Carbon and Water Management Action Plan (Carbon & Water MAP). This plan has an environmental and economic focus and has been developed to lead our carbon mitigation and water management response into the next decade.
The Carbon & Water MAP focuses on four target sectors: residential, education, business and Council operations. A number of aspirational goals and actions have been established for each of these sectors.
