Natural Resources Planning
Council is responsible for undertaking, managing, supporting and regulating a wide range of activities that may impact upon Natural Resource Management (NRM).
Council also has a key role to play in translating the NRM policies of the Commonwealth and State Government for local and on-ground projects.
The principal functions of Council in relation to NRM include:
- Management of community lands and open space
- Vegetation management
- Biodiversity and landscape management
- Water and floodplain risk management
- Coast and estuary management
- Land use planning
- Development and building controls
- Compliance
- Pollution control and environmental management of land, water and air
