Sustainability Review

Council has commissioned a broad ranging and comprehensive review of the organisation.

Objectives for this review

1. Being sustainable in the long term

2. Regaining community confidence in council

3. Building a cohesive, forward looking and winning culture and being a responsible employer.

Review recommendations

The Sustainability Review Final Report was placed on public exhibition as Part B of the draft 2009-2010 Management Plan.

Read about the Sustainability Review recommendations.

Background

The review focused on:

1. Appropriateness – service mix – to be determined by Council after community consultation

2. Effectiveness and efficiency – achieving agreed outcomes in the most productive manner.

Underpinning this assessment was a comprehensive communication and consultation process. This process was designed to unlock the organisation’s potential and to create opportunities for positive change.

To make this fundamental assessment of the current situation, five discrete tasks have been undertaken:

  • Guided self assessment of the organisation against the Australian Business Excellence Framework (ABEF)
  • Review of all Key Services
  • Organisational Design
  • Financial Assessment
  • Final Report and recommendations.

Australian Business Excellence Framework

The Business Excellence Framework (BEF) is a well known and accepted organisational review methodology used by both public and private sector organisations that is transparent and standardised. The BEF focuses on sustainable excellence in all aspects of organisational performance.
