Road permits
There are a number of permits required for road closures and works on Council roads.
Crane permit
A permit is required from Council to operate a crane, cherry picker or elevated work platform on a Council road or land as the location/placement could affect pedestrian paths and traffic flow. A Traffic Management Plan for the site is required.
You need to complete an application form and include the Traffic Management Plan and copy of Public Liability Insurance cover.
Please forward the completed application to the Transport and Traffic Section on fax 02 4974 2603.
Road closures for construction works
A permit is required for the use and occupation of part, or all of a Council road reserve (roadway or footpath). Common reasons to obtain a road occupancy permit include:
- Roads works such as gas, watermain, sewer, or electrical connections
- Concrete pour or major deliveries where safety is an issue
- Underground drilling or testing
- Rail line maintenance
- Construction adjoining a Council road reserve
- All of the above works may require the occupancy of on-street parking spaces.
You need to complete an application form and include a Traffic Management Plan and copy of Public Liability Insurance cover. Please allow approximately three working days for processing of the application.
Please forward the completed application to the Transport and Traffic Section on fax 02 4974 2603.
Work zone (parking) permits
Work zone permits are special parking permits available for tradesmen, contractors or builders to carry out their building/construction works in areas where there is a high demand for parking.
They are generally only suitable for longer-term works due to the cost and time required for installation of special signage. The zones are signposted as a 'Work Zone' and construction/work vehicles are permitted to park and pick-up/set down materials at a construction site.
You need to complete an application form. Please allow approximately ten working days for processing of the application.
