A Drop in the Ocean

Commissioned in 2005 by Newcastle City Council and Kingston Properties, A Drop in the Ocean reflects the maritime nature of the harbour and creates a space where children can explore their own imagination. The 'ocean' is a moulded soft play surface with whimsical, brightly coloured nautical-style play equipment, many of the forms are recurrent forms in Braddon Snape’s work. Later additions to the commission were the cube shaped seating and the frame to provide a vista of Newcastle harbour when viewed from the playground.
