Volunteers

Newcastle Region Art Gallery relies on the help of a small and dedicated team of volunteers to run our many public programs, including ArtCart and our Gallery tours. Our volunteers dedicate their time and energy to the Gallery, and without them, we would not be able to present the rich program that we currently do.

Volunteers for ArtCart are recruited on an ongoing basis, and are required to have either teaching or fine art backgrounds; students enrolled in these studies at University or Tafe are actively encouraged to apply. Recruits are involved in hands-on activities with a range of children, generally between 3 and 13 years old. Due to the rigorous training program required to become a volunteer guide, the Gallery recruits for these positions biannually, or whenever there is a need for additional volunteers.

To find out more about these positions, or to register your interest in being considered for the next round of volunteer recruitment, please contact the Public Programs Officer on (02) 4974 5112 or email pfinnigan@ncc.nsw.gov.au with "Volunteering at the Gallery" in the title of your email.

NEW INTAKE OF ARTCART VOLUNTEERS

The Newcastle Region Art Gallery is seeking people with a passion for art who would like be involved in our weekend programs for children which operate on Saturdays and Sundays from 10.30 – 12.30. Volunteers should have a background in art, with preference given to those with an education background as well. The program involves talking to children between the ages of 3 and 12 about works currently on display in the Gallery, and then sitting on the floor to assist them to create works of their own in response

If you are keen, contact Penelope Finnigan, Public Programs Officer for the Newcastle Region Art Gallery on 02 4974 5112 or pfinnigan@ncc.nsw.gov.au. We would love to hear from you!
