During your visit to Blackbutt Reserve be sure to pop into the Pioneer Cottage, your one stop shop for information on Blackbutt Reserve, gifts and souvenirs, cold drinks, tea, coffee and snacks.

The Pioneer Cottage is run by dedicated volunteers and is located at the Carnley Avenue Reserve. From the main carpark follow the path past the toilet block, shelter and playground on your left, and you will find the cottage situated near Black Duck Pond.

Blackbutt Souvenirs

A wide variety of Australian souvenirs are available to remember your visit at Blackbutt Reserve. Priced from only $1.50 there is something for everyone’s budget.

Feed the Wildlife

For only 80 cents you can purchase an ice cream cone to feed our emus. Full of delicious seeds and grains this is a great opportunity to get up close with our emus.

Koala Encounters

The Information Cottage is the meeting location for our public and private koala encounters. Purchase a ticket from our friendly volunteers and a staff member will escort you to the encounter.

Visitor Information

During your visit to the Cottage why not pick up some of the many facts sheets available. Topics range from the history of Blackbutt Reserve, animals on exhibits and flora in the local area. These fact sheets are great for school projects or just for people interested in learning more about our flora and fauna.

Tourist information is also available for a number of other exciting destinations in the Hunter.
