    Picnic spots

    Blackbutt Reserve has five main picnic area each with their own unique features making it easy to find a location to suit your needs.

  • Blackbutt Junior Rangers

    Guided tours

    Blackbutt Reserve offers a range of guided tours for private and community groups.

  • Wildlife exhibits

    Blackbutt Reserve has a long history of exhibiting captive wildlife. The first enclosures were built in the 1960’s. Since that time the exhibits have been relocated from Lookout Road to the Carnley Avenue entrance.

  • Animal encounters

    Experience a close encounter with Australia’s most renown animal, the Koala. Learn interesting facts about their behaviour, physiology and habitats by our trained staff and volunteers. Bookings are not required for public koala encounters

  • Junior Rangers

    The Blackbutt Reserve Junior Ranger Program is an environmental education program for children (aged 6-10 years). Sessions are conducted during the holidays for a 2 hour period. This program is proudly supported by The Newcastle Permanent Building Society.

  • Spotlight adventures

    Spotlight Adventures are guided spotlight tours of the Blackbutt Reserve and include traditional bush tucker with Billy Tea and damper afterwards.

  • Blackbutt playground

    A new playground is being built at the Carnley Avenue picnic area at Blackbutt Reserce.
