National Park PoM

The City of Newcastle has prepared the National Park Draft Plan of Management, in accordance with the Local Government Act 1993.

This Plan will set out a clear direction for the future of National Park and how this area is to be developed, managed and used over the coming years. The City of Newcastle is asking for your input on the things you value about National Park, and your suggestions and ideas for this area’s future management.

The City of Newcastle has engaged consultants Gondwana Consulting to assist in preparing the new Plan of Management. The new plan will replace the park’s current plan of management – which dates from 2000, and was amended in March 2010.

Community input is central to preparing a plan of management. This is to ensure that a plan addresses existing and future recreation needs and responds to community values, attitudes and desires for an area and its future management.

Consultation to date has included:

  • A user, stakeholder and community survey
  • Focus groups for those having a particular interest in, or association with the park (August 2011)
  • Community Workshop (September 2011)
  • Personal or email discussions and input
  • Issues and Opportunities Discussion Paper

The National Park Draft Plan of Management is currently on public exhibition.  Go to 'Public Exhibitions' for more information.
