Empire Park skate park
The skate park was officially opened in 2010 and features a 7- 11 foot bowl and plaza style street section- making it one of the most progressive, diverse skate facilities in the country. There is also batball courts, seating and shade areas in the area.

2012 skate championships
For the first time ever, the Australian skateboarding community competed in a true ‘Nationals’ skateboarding competition – The Hurley Australian Bowl-riding Championships (ABC™) in Newcastle from 26 to 28 January 2012 at Empire Park skate park. Check out the photo gallery of the event.
2010 skate park opening
To mark the opening of the skate park there was a Skate/BMX demo held. Australian and international professionals were on hand, showing the full potential of this skatepark. See the demo promotion below.
