Permits for keys
The Master Locksmith Access Key is a symbol which is placed on the door of accessible toilets throughout the Newcastle Local Government Area.
The symbol indicates that the key to open the door of a locked accessible toilet is available from Locksmiths who are members of the Master Locksmiths Association. This key will unlock all accessible toilets across Australasia fitted with the MLAK system.
Access to the key is restricted to people who have a disability or those who have a letter of authority from:
- A doctor
- A disability organisation
- The centre manager or owner of a building with an accessible toilet on site.
The key can be purchased from Locksmiths who are members of the Masters Locksmiths Association for a cost of $10.00 - $12.00.
Locksmiths who have the Masters Locksmith's logo can be found in the yellow pages. You may want to ring the Locksmith to make sure you can access their premises.
Please contact Council's Aged and Disability Services on phone 02 4974 2855 for further information.
