Newcastle City Council is committed to the promotion and coordination of events as a way of enhancing Newcastle’s image and lifestyle.
Council also wants to make sure residents know about Council decisions, projects and work programs.
Council maintains an on line events calendar. If you want to promote your event in our calendar you need to fill in an on-line application form with your details.
Council coordinates annual events such as citizenship ceremonies, Commemoration Events, Australia Day and New Years Eve.
Council assists community event organisers with the granting of licenses, bids for major events and other Council support such as venue subsidies.
Council has established the Events Shop Front which provides a space for the coordination and promotion of events. The Shop Front also runs regular training for events organisers, such as risk management skills etc.
Media releases, brochures and information sheets distributed to residents also help keep the community informed.
