Ten Minutes a Day

Ten Minutes A Day – the best investment you can make in your child’s future” is a promotional campaign designed by Newcastle Region Library to educate parents and carers about the importance of reading aloud to children at an early age.

The program was made possible by a partnership with the Newcastle Permanent Charitable Foundation and Newcastle Region Library. The program has extended beyond Newcastle to include a total of nine public libraries in northern NSW.

The campaign includes a website, brochure for parents and carers, a set of posters, book packs and a series of ‘Baby Book Time’ workshops for parents and their babies. These initiatives have passed on the “Ten Minutes a Day” message to thousands of schools, libraries and community organisations throughout Australia and beyond.
The program is an example of a corporate partnership that is delivering far reaching benefits for the community.
