At Beresfield Community Children’s Education Centre we believe our role is a very important one in providing the foundations for success at school. We understand that starting school is a significant period of change not only for the children but for their families as well. This exciting and challenging time requires children to adjust to new routines, expectations, people, friends and environments and we want to ensure that our children are prepared to meet this new challenge with confidence.

To ensure that your child is ready to make this important step we provide a comprehensive program of experiences that are guided by the Early Years Learning Framework and focus on the following key learning outcomes:

  1. Children have a strong sense of identity
  2. Children are connected with and contribute to their world
  3. Children havea strong sense of wellbeing
  4. Children are confident and involved learners
  5. Children are effective communicators.

We believe important developmental areas for starting school are: social, emotional, physical, fine motor, language, cognitive, and self help. Our educational program reflects this and specific activities and resources and planned and implemented in an ongoing basis.

Our school readiness program is also supported and linked with the latest technology giving children an important introduction to the tools that they will be using throughout their school lives. Technology tools such as iPads and computers are a part of your child’s daily learning experiences, along with the new ELLA program (Early Learning Languages Australia) will assist with their transition into the new school environment.
