Waratah is set for an upgrade

On 29 June 2021 the elected Council agreed to carry out the renewal of Waratah Local Centre. Community feedback on values, issues and priorities for the public domain within the Waratah Local Centre is needed to inform the development of a draft Public Domain Plan.

This draft plan will then be placed on public exhibition for comment, and further community feedback will be used to finalise the plan.

The site plan below shows the area in scope for the Waratah Local Centre Upgrade.

This local centre renewal is part of City of Newcastle's commitment to developing vibrant, safe and active public places. For more information, visit our Local Centre's webpage.

Thank you for having your say

We asked for feedback from those who know Waratah best to help us come up with a design that will improve the street scape and public space. Thank you to the over 300 people who had their say on what they love about Waratah Local Centre and what needs improving. To find out more, check out the full engagement report.

What happens next?

Our team will review all of the feedback that is received, and this information will inform the development of a draft Public Domain Plan.
