Building Information Certificate Application Checklist

A Building Information Certificate (BIC) is applied for and issued, under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979. The certificate warrants that City of Newcastle (CN) will not, for a period of 7 years from the date of the certificate, seek to require a building to be repaired, demolished, altered, added to or rebuilt, or to take proceedings in relation to an encroachment by a building onto CN land.

The Building Information Certificate Application Checklist provides a guide on the information required to support a BIC application. Please include a completed copy of this checklist when submitting a BIC application.

From 1 July 2021, all BIC applications must be submitted through the NSW Planning Portal. Using the portal will incur an administration fee at the time of lodgement. This fee is in addition to any payments required by CN.
