Community Funding and Support

The City of Newcastle is providing funding for existing service providers to cope with increased urgency and demand, as well as information on community services and support Newcastle programs.

In the first 30 days of COVID-19 the City of Newcastle committed to a series of rapid response grants to assist local community organisations respond.

Grant Recipients:

Grainery Church

Grainery Church’s grant has contributed to over 500 free meals each week, opening the café 5 days a week, new refrigeration and freezers plus new shelving to store food.


A rapid response grant is helping Awabakal tackle COIVID-19 and chronic disease with healthy meals for Elders, their most vulnerable clients. It’s also meant they’ve kept people employed during the pandemic.


Since COVID-19 BaptistCare have found that the need for their emergency relief care-packs and crisis food hampers has increased considerably. Their grant is helping them continue to provide this support and to be there when anyone reaches out for help.
