Memorial Drive embankment stabilisation and new footpath

We are developing plans to restabilise a 115m section of embankment along Memorial Drive, The Hill, following a land slip during a period of significant rainfall.

Over recent months we have carried out extensive geotechnical investigations to determine the work required to rectify the embankment and ensure the safe operation of the road and footpath nearby.

We have built a temporary footpath along this section to allow continued access to the public and have developed preliminary designs for further stabilisation of the embankment, ahead of a call for tender to construct the retaining wall and stabilise the road embankment.

Construction is anticipated to commence in 2024.
