Project Scope

To resolve streetscape, access and traffic issues and inform infrastructure renewal in the Stockton Local Centre.

What is the process and where are we up to?

City of Newcastle is currently in the final stages of design and the first stage of construction will commence in the 2020/2021 financial year and occur between Crown and King streets. Works include the replacement and widening of footpath, improving pedestrian access and safety, upgrades to drainage, new trees, and there will also be improvements made to water quality through the introduction of rain gardens. Stage two (between Crown and Hunter streets) will occur in the 2021/2022 financial year, subject to funding. View the The Stockton Public Domain Plan Process Flow Chart (PDF).

Final Plans 

Council on 28 February 2017 approved the traffic component of the Stockton Local Centre Public Domain Plan. It has now been finalised and copies of all relevant documents are listed below.
