Overview

The Compliance and Enforcement Policy was adopted in June 2019 (the adopted Policy) and provides information for internal and external stakeholders on CN's position on compliance and enforcement matters.

In December 2015, the NSW Ombudsman issued their Model Compliance and Enforcement Model Policy (Model Policy).

The Model Policy is a useful guide for NSW Councils in the preparation of their own policy and the carrying out of compliance and enforcement functions.

Key and relevant elements of the Model Policy were incorporated into the adopted Policy along with elements of the previous Compliance Policy 2013.

The adopted Policy has been reviewed with the key changes in the draft Policy being:

i) updated reference to CN's current related policies and procedures including risk assessment and prioritisation.

ii) updated reference to current related guidelines and legislation.

The draft Compliance and Enforcement Policy was endorsed by Council for public exhibition at its meeting on 22 November 2022.
