We're finalising our Local Social Strategy
Newcastle has changed a lot over the years. Today, it is more diverse than ever, with people of all ages, backgrounds, and beliefs. Individually, we may be very different but, together we call Newcastle home. As the region continues to grow, we want to make sure that you feel able to grow with us and are valued part of our vibrant community.
What we heard
In 2021, we heard from the community about their ideas and opinions on social justice and inclusion issues such as community participation, satisfaction with wellbeing, access to services, safety, and inclusion in the Newcastle area. Learn more in our community engagement summary report.
These ideas and feedback are being used to develop an important framework called the Local Social Strategy, which will respond to what the community has told us their needs are, with real and meaningful action.
What's next
We're using the feedback and ideas from the 2021 community engagement activities to finalise the Local Social Strategy. We will also be working with the community sector and expect to place the draft strategy on public exhibition for further community feedback in 2022.
Meet your locals
As part of engaging with the community, we asked a diverse range of people living in Newcastle about their connection to the city they call home and the community they're a part of. Click below to see their stories.
