Shortland Local Centre Upgrades

Shortland Local Centre is set for an upgrade

In April 2019, City of Newcastle met with Shortland businesses to gain feedback on key issues in the area.
In June 2020, we invited Shortland residents and visitors to share their views on:

  • Pedestrian and cycling access and safety in the area
  • Traffic management
  • Parking times and zones
  • The ‘look and feel’ of the area
  • Crime and antisocial behaviour.

The site plan below indicates the area in scope for Shortland Local Centre upgrades.

This public domain renewal is part of City of Newcastle's commitment to developing vibrant, safe and active public places. For more information, visit our Local Centre's webpage.

Community feedback closed at 5pm Monday 29 June 2020.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to have a say!

The feedback captured in June 2020 will help us develop a design for Shortland Local Centre and inform future placemaking activities. The findings are outlined in the full engagement report. Construction will commence in the 2020/21 financial year.
