Natural Connection Summer Coastal Program

Reconnect with our coast and help protect marine life by joining our coastal summer activities! Join real scientists to discover the animals that call Newcastle home and protect them by shopping at a seaside scavenge. There are a range of activities to suit the whole family.

Rock Pool Ramble
Ramble through rock pools to discover Newcastle's fascinating marine life. Learn how these animals use incredible adaptations to live in the intertidal zone.

Hidden Life of Sand
Learn the techniques real scientists use to find life in the sand and get up close and personal with these critters by viewing them through a microscope.

Newcastle Seaside Scavenge
Pick up rubbish, collect your trash tokens and use the tokens as currency to make purchases at the Newcastle Seaside Scavenge pop-up market. Browse the market, listen to live music, take part in workshops or view 'waste art' installations.
When: Saturday 12 February, 11am – 3pm
