Please note: While our kerbside waste and recycling services generally occur within a predictable timeframe, regular collection times are not set nor guaranteed. Collection times can also vary from week-to-week due to unforeseen circumstances such as truck breakdowns, poor weather or street access issues/road closures.

Your collection service will be as usual, your recycling bin will just be emptied by a new blue truck.

We’ll continue to service your red lid bin weekly, with your yellow lid and green lid bins serviced fortnightly on alternate weeks.

The time of day that the recycling truck visits your street may change under our new contractor.

Please wait until 4pm before reporting a missed yellow lid bin collection, unless other households in your street appear to have received a recycling service.

City of Newcastle undertook a competive tender process for household kerbside recycling services earlier this year, as the existing contract will expire on Tuesday 31 October 2023.

If you are subscribed to our Assisted Household Waste Collection Service, we'll continue to provide the same support with your bins.

Your regular collection day will not change. Our new contractor may empty your yellow lid bin at a different time of day than the current contractor.
