Small quantities of X-rays can be posted to Siltech Mechanical Services for recycling and silver recovery. The postal address is:

Drop them off

You can drop off household quantities of X-rays in the Community Recycling Stations at selected Council facilities.

You can also hand in small (household) quantities of X-rays for recycling to the Radiology Department at the Calvary Mater Newcastle public hospital in Waratah (corner of Edith and Platt Streets, phone 4921 1211). Please see the staff at the front desk and keep X-rays in their envelopes.

Arrange a pick-up of large amounts of X-rays
If you have X-ray film volumes in excess of 20kg - or if you are a school or a community group (e.g. Scouts) interested in hosting an X-ray collection point in return for payment for the collected film stock - please contact Quantum Technical Services to discuss potential collaborations on 1300 247 266.
