Advisory Committees

Council has established a number of Advisory Committees to provide advice to Council and inform decision making on specific areas in line with the established Committee Charters.

In addition to Council's Advisory Committees there is also an Audit Committee.

Asset Advisory Committee

To provide strategic advice on and guide the development and implementation of asset policy and strategy for The City of Newcastle.

Guraki Aboriginal Advisory Committee

The Guraki Advisory Committee provides strategic advice and guidance with relation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander issues, give life to Council’s commitment to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people of the City of Newcastle.

Liveable Cities Advisory Committee

To provide advice and guidance on the development of strategies, and identification of challenges and opportunities, in relation to urban planning, heritage, safety, affordable housing and healthy and connected urban systems within the LGA.

Newcastle Youth Council Committee

To guide the implementation of youth strategies for Newcastle City Council and to raise awareness of youth issues.

Audit and Risk Committee

The objective of the Audit and Risk Committee is to provide independent assurance and assistance to Council on risk management, control, governance, and legal and regulatory obligations.
