Building History

Opened in 1929, Newcastle City Hall is one of Newcastle's most unique and prestigious venues.

Restoration Works

A large-scale restoration is now complete, enhancing and protecting the State Heritage listed building and helping reduce on-going maintenance costs.

Council History

On 8 June 1859 Newcastle Municipal Council was one of the first local councils created in the State after legislation was passed in 1858.

Aboriginal Flag

The Aboriginal Flag has been flying over City Hall since 2003.
