Grants and Sponsorships

We offer a range of grants and sponsorships to help activate public spaces, enhance community wellbeing and strengthen the city's reputation as a destination for tourism, business and events. See below for information about the various streams of funding available.

Our grants and sponsorships program and the selection criteria for applicants are aligned with our Newcastle 2030 Community Strategic Plan (PDF).

Event Sponsorship

Council provides sponsorship for selected events that enhance the city's profile as a visitor destination and/or provide economic benefit and brand exposure.

Arts and Culture Grants

Boost Arts and Culture Grant Program currently open for applications. This program is focused on not-for-profit arts and cultural organisations in Newcastle, supporting them to develop projects for the city.

Boost Your Place - Placemaking Grants

Boost Your Place - Lean in Newy Placemaking grant currently open for applications. Community grants provide funding for projects, services or activities that benefit the community and / or activate public places.

Recreation Facilities Grants

Recreation Facilities Grants fund Newcastle sporting groups to assist with minor capital works projects. Funding is provided on a dollar for dollar basis.

Special Business Rate

From the city centre and across the suburbs, Newcastle contains many commercial centres that work together through a coordinated approach to economic development.

Economic Development Sponsorship

Economic Development Grants support initiatives that support business growth, tourism and employment, and/or encourage innovation.

Funding that will enable city-shaping outcomes that target the hardest hit from COVID-19
